Literature Text

I'm just a fool in fool's clothing
plain; you can see all that I am
for truths I lay bare; no surprise

You're just a fool in king's clothing
you hide in your wit and your frills
and your frocks and think yourself wise

Should you dress down as a jester
with bells on your toes and your hat
you think you're a king in disguise

Dress me up in fine cloths and things
a fool in fool's clothing I'll be
just without toys and bells and ties

Not such a fool am I, not to
see that no matter how you dress
it up, a lie is still a lie
I hate being lied to, even more so when people attempt to dress them up and disguise them for what they are. I was thinking of thoughts along this line when the first line of this poem came to me. I liked it so much that I decided to add to it. the poem is the result. 8 syllables in every line. :)
